The Power of Breath

Updated: Jan 2

Why The Power of Breath Is So Important

BreathLogic is dedicated to teaching Breath Literacy — breathing practices for better health, wellbeing and world peace — around the globe.

Breath Literacy is the wisdom and knowledge of how to breathe optimally moment by moment, breath by breath and in various circumstances all throughout life.

The ABC's of Breath Literacy

Inspired by the book Breath is Life by Laurie Ellis-Young with Dr. George T. Ellis.

AWARENESS

The very first step to learning Breath Literacy is awareness. Learn to be aware of how you feel without judgement.

Simply acknowledge when you are:

  • Anxious

  • Calm

  • Panicked

  • Impulsive

  • Present

  • Low Energy

  • Revitalized

  • Depressed

  • Lonely

  • SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)

  • Disconnected

  • Happy

  • Helpless

  • Empowered

  • Stressed

  • Peaceful

  • Unsafe

  • Secure

  • Thinking Negatively

  • Unable to Sleep

  • Angry

  • Frustrated

  • Letting Go of Losses

  • Grieving

  • Conflicted

  • Lacking Concentration

  • Overly Stimulated

  • Distracted

  • Multi-Tasking

  • In Trauma

  • Experiencing Head or Body Aches

  • In need of Immune Strengthening

  • Fearful

  • Indecisive

  • Imbalanced

  • Worrying

  • Confident

  • Feeling Powerless

  • Lacking Self Confidence

  • Having Mood Swings

BALANCE

When you are out of balance, your body, mind and spirit do not communicate properly and cannot work together in harmony.  Using simple breathing techniques can help you regain your balance.

Breathing better:

  • Engages your entire respiratory apparatus – lungs, air cells and respiratory muscles

  • Derives maximum benefits from minimal effort

  • Expands your lung capacity

  • Massages your liver, stomach, heart, kidneys and other organ; aids in their functions

  • Increases oxygen to resist germs

  • Boosts your immune system

  • Detoxifies your body

  • Grounds your body

  • Calms your mind

  • Soothes your nervous system

  • Improves the quality of your blood

  • Regulates blood pressure

  • Strengthens and revitalizes reproductive functions

  • Revitalizes your lymph and circulatory systems

  • Improves metabolism and promotes better digestion and elimination

  • Promotes harmony between your body, mind and spirit

  • Aids in relaxation and reduces stress

  • Energizes your body "core”
