BOARD OF DIRECTORS
LAURIE ELLIS-YOUNG, MTC, SYT
Co-Founder, Chief Visionary Officer
For over 40 years, Laurie Ellis-Young, co-founder, has been practicing, studying and teaching yoga, breath work, mind/body therapies and wellbeing techniques from both ancient and contemporary traditions. She is passionate that in our ordinary breath, we have access to extraordinary power. Through BreathLogic she wants to share this knowledge with the world. As a teenager practicing yoga in the early 1970’s, Laurie first became aware of the importance of breath. This interest led her to many teachers, yogic disciplines and breathing practices such as: Pranayama, Qigong, Tai Chi and Flute-playing. In the 80’s she began trekking in the high Himalayan & Andes mountains; later leading groups. The mountains taught her the necessity of oxygen for energy and clear thinking. (Let’s bring this knowledge into schools and institutions of learning!) Overcoming fears of public speaking and scuba diving impressed upon her the reliability of breathing practices for empowerment and relaxation. (Let’s bring this knowledge everywhere people are discouraged or stressed!) Over forty years of studies, personal practices, and experiences working with diverse populations on five continents convince her breath practices transform people’s lives. (Let’s develop “Breath Literacy” programs for everyone who breathes: children to elders, and implement them in centers of medicine, healthcare, education, corporations and NGOs!) A yoga teacher, mindfulness (MBSR) instructor, SHIFT Peace Ambassador, author and presenter, Laurie feels our breath is the key to cultivating the inner peace that leads to outer peace. As trees are “the lungs of the planet” projects dear to her heart are preservation of the rainforest and reforestation. Laurie is author, with with her husband Psychologist Dr. George T. Ellis of the award wining book "Breathe Is Life: Taking In and Letting Go: How to Live Well, Love Well, BE Well" Purchase the book on Amazon here. Laurie and her husband live in Arkansas while continuing to travel frequently.

JESSICA MCGREW
Jessica McGrew's natural curiosity, adventurous spirit, and ability to get along with just about anybody has led her on many wonderful adventures of the body, mind, and soul. Having two relatives with Down syndrome and her first career in education with people with disabilities gave her lessons in creativity, flexibility, and the beauty of diversity. These informed her eventual journey to train in bodywork, and she has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2017. She remembered basic breathing techniques helped the students she worked with and the kids she fostered find calm in challenging situations. And she knew breath was important to helping her clients get the most out of their massage sessions. Because of a chance introduction to and encouragement by Laurie Ellis-Young, and a yearning to know more how to help her clients and herself, Jessica signed up for the Breath is Life Retreat in Guatemala in 2024. She returned in 2025, and at both retreats, she was able to add to the experience for other participants with Yomassage (restorative yoga + massage), Laughter Yoga, and singing. She lives with her husband, dog, and cat in Arkansas and enjoys the perks of living in The Natural State. In her spare time, you can find her keeping in touch with her large family, reading, curating community, practicing yoga, traveling, and enjoying a hot cup of tea. "With her vibrant yet grounded and peaceful energy, Jessica draws others to her like a magnet. This was observed as Jessica created an empowered, connected wellness-centered community group. Feeling BreathLogic would benefit immensely if Jessica would bring her talents, skills, and caring to the BreathLogic board, there was great delight when Jessica said 'yes'."

ERICA RITTER
Raised on a farm in Bismarck, Arkansas, I developed a deep connection to nature and creativity. My early years taught me the value of land-based living. After moving to Hot Springs in 6th grade, I began solo travels at 14, funding my adventures through entrepreneurial ventures like making clothes and yard work. These experiences in Guatemala, Papua New Guinea, and Ghana fostered a strong sense of global citizenship. Driven by a passion for social justice and advocacy, I pursued Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Arkansas. During this time, I launched a personal training business, recognizing our bodies as vital allies in personal growth. My journey led me to Turkey in 2007, where I taught English and engaged in enriching cultural exchanges for five years. In southern Colorado, I managed cafes and led a farm-to-table initiative, creating spaces for community nourishment and creativity. Additionally, I served as a wilderness therapy guide, emphasizing the healing power of nature. Since returning to Arkansas in 2022, I have focused on holistic approaches within the social justice system, supporting vulnerable populations. My personal sobriety journey underscores my commitment to service and simple living. I am dedicated to co-creating peaceful experiences, harnessing the transformative power of breath.
